This has been sitting in my drafts for over three years now- not sure where my thought train was headed back then. Freeing the thoughts from the confines of drafts into the free world!

Taara is three weeks old today. All three of us are getting used to her routine (as she is getting used to us), often competing fiercely to get a chance to hold her. I feel like we bond more with every passing day and it makes each new day more exciting.
Dad cannot get enough pictures of Taara - pictures of her opening her eyes for the first time in the morning, her stretching, crying, closing her eyes and falling asleep- he would basically be clicking her pictures if he were home all day. Big sister cannot stop saying something sweet about her little sister (Taara is cute, her hair is so soft, I love how she sneezes, and the list goes on).
On the day we came home from the hospital, it took me full five minutes just to get into the car. A friend that did not know Taara was already born, thought I was finally in labor, going by how pregnant I looked. My legs were completely swollen to twice their size from knees to heels. Anything from a smile to sneeze would cause me excruciating pain near the incision. Taara had latching issues and I would scream out in pain every time she nursed. Taara herself had her own list of challenges when we got home from the hospital- she needed to gain weight quickly. Her skin still looked extremely dry and flaky. Her cord looked raw and nowhere near falling off. She was spitting often. Her left tear duct clogged and had drainage issues.
Well, a little more than two weeks from home coming, the status changed quite dramatically. I am walking quite comfortably, even drove for the first time on Sunday. The swelling in legs is about 75% gone. The incision is healing and I no longer feel much pain, though I am down to only one Ibuprofen a day. I would not comment on the lbs or about how pregnant I look- I am sure I would still be talking about it for months and years to come.
Taara regained her lost weight by her two week appointment. Her skin stopped flaking off. Her cord stump fell into her onesie two nights ago. Her left eye looks mostly back to normal. She still spits but that is mostly when her parents get too lazy to burp her properly. Her sleep schedule has become a bit more predictable.
So...we are off to a great start and it could not be possible without the help of an army of people cooking and bringing us meals every day, another army of people taking care of Raaga's classes and play dates, and friends and family across the globe sending their prayers and positive mojo across.
