Mind- Shaken and Blown

I would like to tell you a story. Warning- it is pretty graphic and definitely not PG-13 content.

Once upon a time there was a beautiful educated woman. She fell in love with a handsome and successful man. The two of them got married, settled financially, and had two adorable children, a boy and a girl. The husband had a busy life of an entrepreneur. Over time, the woman felt neglected by her husband, and got involved in a relationship with another man that had more time for her. The woman and the other man decided to get rid of the husband to cement their relationship. They strangled the husband and threw his body miles away in a forest. Upon return, the woman poured acid all over the other man's face, convinced those around her that it was her husband. She complained at the police station that some random people barged into her house and poured acid all over her husband. The man was sent to a hospital for treatment from his acid burns. The dead husband's parents spent a ton of money on the man's treatment until one fine day they realized it was not even their son. They complained to the police who confirmed via fingerprints that the man indeed was not their son. Eventually the woman was caught and was convicted along with her other man with acid burns. They both went to jail, leaving behind two young children without parents and two aged parents without their son. A perfectly healthy man now had life threatening acid injuries. The beautiful woman that was married to the man she loved now had no husband, no other man, and no family.

This is not a movie story. This is not the plot of a crime novel. This is a true story, story of a woman who thought she could get away from a murder by making another man look like her own husband. I could not believe my eyes when I read it in the newspaper. There are awful stories everywhere in the world but this one just bothers me a lot. The lengths the woman and the other man went to, just to fool everyone and bring legitimacy to their relationship, gave me shivers.

What if the woman actually talked to her husband? All she needed was for him to spend more time with her! Maybe things would have worked out between them if they simply talked!

What if the woman told her husband that she was done and wanted a divorce? Sure, it would be the hardest on the kids but at least their father would not have been dead and mother would have been with someone that made her happier, someone that would not endure acid burns!

How can a seemingly normal, educated woman, a mother at that, be willing to mercilessly kill another person, let along her own beloved husband? Has human life become that cheap? Did we forget that humans have the supreme power of verbal communication that no other species has? Should periodic counseling be made mandatory for all humans like an yearly doctor's visit? What would keep our mental and emotional health in check before such extreme thoughts even enter the periphery of our minds?

I am feeling disgusted and helpless.
