Our second day in Hyderabad started and ended with the most delicious and most comforting home made food served with love. I probably don't need to dissect the day any further but for the sake of continuity, here is the skinny of the day:
- Waking up to the whistle of the idly cooker: +1
- Raaga all excited to see her cousins, walking with them to their bus stop, walking with grandma to farmers market and getting all the fresh fruits she ever wanted: +1
- Ola and Uber apps that get us a cab ride under five minutes: +1
- Lady knocking on our car door and begging/selling qtips as we wait for the traffic light to turn green and the subsequent conversation in the car between my 7yr old and I: -Priceless (this one still haunts me)
- Appliance technician arriving on time, installing the heaters in a very short time and conducting himself with utmost professionalism throughout: +1
- Major water leak 15min after the appliance technician left the premises: -1
- Technician coming back within minutes and offering assistance (turns out leak wasn't his fault): +1
- My inability to operate an ATM machine and needing help from my twenty-something cousin: -1 (this might just be me regardless of my coordinates)
- Everyone's inability to breath without a smart phone in close proximity: -1 (I am yet to find coordinates where this is not the case)
- Kid declaring that she would not want to live here because the city is not clean: -1
- People taking a shower from a community water tank on the side of the stretch of the road that connects Qualcomm and Deloitte: -1 (I still cannot get over the irony of it all)
- A delicious home made meal with fresh vegetables, protein and dairy, complete with the world's best carrot halwa (with equal parts carrots and clarified butter) and served with love: +Priceless
I still want to move here...although I see glimpses of how that might not be so straightforward.
