Travel Diaries: Hyderabad Day-10

The most forgettable day of my trip yet.

Got to see the ugly side of those that judge everyone (present company included) based on their paycheck and financial assets rather than their character. These people choose to be blissfully ignorant of the arduous path the others had to wade through and only focus on their seemingly rosy present. It does not matter if you work 14 hour days- 7 days a week, endure years of long distance relationships for financial security, or leave your two month old infant in the care of others to go back to work. All they see is- if you live abroad, you are basically the dollars walking, tossing ten and twenty dollar bills with every step as if they are toilet paper. If you do a noble deed, it is because you live in excess. If you question something remotely related to money, you are being a bloody business minded stingy asshole.

As if to affirm the forgettable status of the day, my dad slipped and fell on his morning walk and fractured his right hand wrist. The humble and positive man he is, he was thankful for it was only his wrist and nothing else.

I am very thankful for the strangers that immediately rushed to my father's aid when he fell. It made me feel that it is so much better to be in the company of well-meaning strangers than to be with the familiar chameleons judging our every step, regardless of whether it is India or the US of A.
